Preparing a Drawing Package for Custom RF Components

How to organize dimensions, tolerances, materials, finishing, inspection, and revision information before supplier review.

Control the revision

Every drawing and 3D model should carry a clear part number and revision. The quotation, sample, inspection report, and purchase order should refer to the same controlled revision.

Identify critical features

Mark mating dimensions, sealing surfaces, contact regions, threads, concentricity, and any feature whose variation affects assembly or performance. Avoid applying unnecessarily tight tolerances to every dimension.

Define material and finish

State the material standard, temper or grade where relevant, plating system, thickness, restricted substances, cosmetic zones, and any certificate requirement.

Define inspection expectations

Specify which dimensions require a report, the sampling level, measurement method where critical, and whether first-article or batch documentation is required.

Add commercial assumptions

Provide prototype quantity, annual forecast, packaging, destination, target schedule, and whether tooling or process changes require written approval.
